Introduction to Sewing

Join our introductory sewing course, meticulously designed to span three consecutive weeks, with 2-hour sessions each week. Within this structured timeframe, participants will be immersed in mastering essential sewing techniques, from fundamental machine operation and precise threading to effective troubleshooting. The curriculum ensures a thorough understanding of sewing straight lines and executing impeccable finishing stitches. To fortify the learning experience, attendees will undertake curated small projects, aligning with the objectives of the course. Rest assured, all requisite materials are comprehensively provided as part of the course package. 4 student minimum required to take place. Students registered for a class that does not meet the minimum will be notified 5 days prior to the class to be rescheduled for another class time.

Some classes may be run with less students and may end slightly earlier as fewer students usually allow students to move faster through the material.

Embark on a journey of growth and creativity with our specially designed sewing classes at Sew Pinellas, perfect for those ready to build upon their foundational knowledge of machine operation. These classes are tailored for individuals who have mastered the basics and are eager to delve deeper into the art of sewing. For those without a working knowledge of a sewing machine, please attend our Introduction to Sewing class prior to attending one of these classes. Note that some classes may require a little more skill than others. Ages 9+

Whether you're aiming to undertake personal projects or simply enjoy the process of creating, these classes are an ideal stepping stone. They are designed to not only expand your technical abilities but also to instill confidence and a deeper appreciation for sewing as a craft.

Sew Much Fun Workshops: Step into our single day workshops, perfect for tackling projects that you can complete in just 2.5 hours. Each session we offer a stand alone project, all designed to be completed in a single session. Basic machine operation knowledge is required for all classes. All materials are provided. Suitable for most skill levels, these workshops are a great way to enjoy a little fun while learning new sewing techniques.
Class Fee Each: $90 (all supplies included) Additional Supplies/Kits can be purchased in our shop.

Serger Sewing: This class spans 2 classes to help you understand how to use a serger sewing machine. Learn the basics of a serger sewing machine. Bring your own or use one of ours. We have 6 available to use, but if you have one, please bring it and your instruction manual. Please indicate during registration that you will be bringing your machine. Learn how the machine works and create projects with the serger. From socks sewing to t-shirts, explore the serger. Projects rotate each session. Class Fee Each: $150 (all supplies included)

Small Project Workshops: These are 2 day workshops that tackle everything from cutting to sewing, leaving you with a beginner friendly sewn take away.

Drop in Sewing Days for Me Made May: In the month of May, we have 12 different days/times you can drop in and work on your own projects with help from an instructor and also get a small demo on different topics. If you don’t need the demo, come for the support to get you through your next project. From picking out your fabrics to handholding on what step is next, Drop In Days are an opportunity to expand your skills. Sign up for the May Pass (to attend as many as you want) or sign up for one at a time.
